Business Operations Associate

What's the role?

RocketBlocks is looking for a competent, hungry, no-ego "jill/jack of all trades" to join our team.

If you want to run your own business one day, this is a prime opportunity to get hands on experience. Day to day the responsibilities will vary significantly from marketing, analytics, business development, sales and support. Essentially, anything asides from writing code is on the table (and if you want to write some code too, hey, that's great!). You will report directly to the CEO (ex-Google, ex-BCG) and get ample opportunity for mentorship and learning about all aspects of the business.

The role is remote, although you're welcome to work from Seattle or Portland with other team members. RocketBlocks is a small, bootstrapped, efficient team and we look forward to hearing from you!

A few examples of the type of work you might own and lead:
  • Identify and implement SEO strategies
  • Partner with top tier schools (i.e, Northwestern, Cornell, etc.) to drive adoption and engagement
  • Expand and manage our roster of leading industry experts
  • Design and implement a scalable approach to generating awareness via social media
  • Create a user onboarding and engagement offering
  • Build relationships with relevant press outlets and journalists and drive coverage of RocketBlocks
  • Help launch new products
What are the requirements?
  • Communication: excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Entrepreneurial: experience in creating things (whether it's a side project, philanthropy event, company, etc.)
  • Reliable: a track record of delivering on promises
  • Scrappy: a track record of finding and executing on goals despite having to clear multiple hurdles

Customer Experience Associate

What's the role?

We're looking for our first Customer Experience Associate. This is a critical position and you'll have an opportunity to shape our customer experience and make a big impact.

Your primary responsibilities will be 1) responding to customer queries and 2) managing our relationships with top tier University partners (e.g., Cornell, Northwestern, etc). We're a small, growing company so in addition to your key responsibilities, you'll have opportunities to pitch in and help out across functions as we scale (i.e., bonus points if you're a jack-of-all-trades).

The ideal candidate will have an innate sense of what great customer service looks like, display genuine empathy for our customers and have a natural tendency to roll up his/her sleeves and get things done. This role will report directly to the CEO (ex-Google, ex-BCG) and offer significant opportunity for mentorship and learning about all aspects of building up a new business.

This a remote role. You can work from anywhere in the US (the rest of the team is currently in Portland and Seattle). Initially, this will be a part-time role but as the company grows, it could become a full-time role.

What will I do?
  • Own our customer support queue, providing exceptional support to prospective, current and former RocketBlocks customers
  • Manage relationships with our top tier stable of University clients (i.e, Northwestern, Cornell, etc.) and make sure they have everything they need to help their students succeed with RocketBlocks
  • Define, create and launch the RocketBlocks on-boarding experience for new customers so that all customers understand how to take full advantage of the platform
  • Pitch in where needed across multiple disciplines (e.g., operations, marketing)
What are the requirements?
  • Excellent communication skills: great written and verbal communication that has earned you compliments from your peers
  • Lifelong learner: you're excited about learning new skills and have a demonstrated track record of doing so
  • Reliable: if you say you'll do something, it gets done.
  • Empathetic: you can put yourself in the shoes of our customers and care about helping them land jobs

  • Scrappy: you can find creative ways to get good results even when there are multiple hurdles
  • BA/BS degree (bonus points for majors with emphasis on writing and critical thinking like English, History and Economics)
Bonus Points
  • Interest in content creation (e.g., writing blog posts, help FAQ)
  • Experience managing, creating or curating a social media presence (e.g., Twitter, LinkedIn, Quora)
  • Experience working in a CX or customer service role (e.g., retail associate, wait staff, etc)
